What is Chunk Rent?

Chunk rent refers to the advertised rent of a multifamily unit. It is usually used when speaking in the context of per sqft rents. For example, someone might say to their analyst: "Looks like they're getting $3.25 a square foot, but those 1BR units are pretty large. What's the chunk rent?" This question would refer to the rent, or chunk rent, as opposed to the rent per sqft.
